Gen-i and Westpac have renewed their seven-year IT services contract for a further two years, a deal which Gen-i says is worth $50 million. The current contract which was signed in 2005 sees Gen-i providing the bank with data, voice, and call centre services among others.
In addition, Gen-i helped Westpac relocate its Christchurch call centre following the Canterbury earthquakes.
Last year Gen-i announced it won the contract to migrate Westpac’s legacy data centre on Auckland’s Nelson St to Gen-i’s tier-3 facility on Airedale Street.
Gen-i initially said the go live for this migration would be in early 2012, but a spokesperson for Gen-i told CIO Magazine it will be completed at the end of this year.
Update 4:15pm: Gen-i says the "go live" has not been pushed out until the end of this year, and its part in the migration is on track to be completed by the end of the year. The company adds that Westpac's vendor partners are also working on the migration, but is unable to comment on their progress.
”I can confirm that Gen-i delivered the facility on time and on budget in early 2012. After that migration of computing systems began and is still ongoing,” says the spokesperson.
