Dr Edwin Ng has joined NZ company Atlantis Healthcare, specialists in medicines adherence, as chief information officer. Before this, Ng was chief technology officer at Healthlink for 10 years.
He says after spending much of his career delivering technology solutions to healthcare providers, he decided to move to an organisation with a stronger patient focus.
Ng says Atlantis’ patient support programmes - with an estimated 750,000 users across the globe – have been proven to increase adherence across a range of chronic conditions.
“We use the latest technology, combined with health psychology techniques to profile patient perceptions about their treatment and then deliver personalised communications that help individuals better understand the role of their treatment,” says Ng.
Ng is a board member of HL7NZ, the local affiliate to Health Level Seven International, the global authority on standards for interoperability of health information technology. He has a PhD in engineering, and has worked for the past 18 years in health IT.
Christchurch-based software company Hindin Solutions, meanwhile, announces three new appointments: Andrea Mulder, implementation consultant; Steve Simatos, product development manager; and Bevan Campbell, system tester.
