Electrix New Zealand is tapping cloud services to capture gas callout field data on mobile devices in order to meet government regulation and increase customer satisfaction. The gas service provider has selected a mobility platform from ClickSoftware Technologies to enhance its mobile workforce capabilities.
The solution will be used in Electrix’s reactive gas department and is expected to reduce administration, improve response times and provide clearer visibility of its historical performance for their customers.
The system will alert engineers to a gas callout, provide them with the information they need to deal with each situation safely via their mobile devices. The system will also update the company’s systems with the real time progress engineers are making.
This means that data will be captured effortlessly to be used for auditing, measuring key performance indicators (KPIs) and improving future performance.
The new system will replace the lengthy manual process currently in use to record information. The engineers, using their mobile handsets, will be guided through workflows to ensure the right information is recorded at the right time before they can move on to the next stage in each job.
“As part of our commitment to the regulator and our customers, the timings of each reactive gas callout need to be recorded, and accurate to within one minute, and all instances of data need to be 100 percent aligned,” says Gerry Thompson, gas services divisional manager at Electrix.
The system was deployed rapidly through the gas division without placing additional load on the IT department, ClickSoftware says in a statement.
