Tauranga private hospital gets free wi-fi

Patients in Grace Hospital get free internet access thanks to EOL.

Patients in Grace Hospital in Oropi will have their stays made a litte easier thanks to free access to wi-fi internet. Grace Hospital has partnered with local internet provider EOL, to provide a free internet hotspot to patients and their families.

Michael Ludbrook, general manager of Grace Hospital, says the wireless technology, installed earlier this month, has been invaluable.

“Prior to our arrangement with EOL the public had no access to internet services while visiting or staying at our hospital,” he says.

“But a large number of our patients and the general public need to remain connected to the outside world while they are confined to a hospital bed or visiting a loved one.”

Hospital staff and surgeons, who previously only had wired access to the internet, can also use the wi-fi for work purposes.

“They are now able to freely move around the hospital to care for their patients while still being able to receive urgent emails or access digital files when they need them,” says Ludbrook.

EOL is a Tauranga based company. In addition to Grace Hospital, it also set up free wi-fi at Tauranga Hospital earlier this year.
