One of New Zealand’s biggest CIO roles has been filled.

Glen McLatchie, General Manager Information Communication Technology (ICT), at Meridian will take on the CIO role at SkyCity in April.

McLatchie has more than 20 years experience delivering business and information technology systems and managing change throughout organisations.

SkyCity CEO Nigel Morrison says he looks forward to the innovative skills and global experience McLatchie will bring to the role.

“Business and information technology is crucial to our success, and with Glen’s track record for lifting internal capability as well as improving staff engagement, we’re confident we’re in safe hands.

“We look forward to the strong contribution he will make and we’re pleased to welcome him to the team,” says Morrison, in a statement.

McLatchie says SkyCity presents one of the biggest CIO roles in New Zealand, and he embraces the new challenges this will bring.

“SkyCity is a really interesting, fast-paced organisation, and like Meridian operates 24x7 - so I’m used to that environment. I believe I’m well placed to deliver and look forward to becoming an integral part of the business.”

According to the 2015 CIO100 report, SkyCity has a 102-member ICT team managing more than 7,700 screens in New Zealand and Australia.

McLatchie replaces Mike Clarke, who is now a member of the IT advisory group at KPMG.

He holds a master’s of information systems from Swinburne University of Technology, Melbourne and a bachelor of business studies from Massey University, Auckland.

At Meridian McLatchie’s core responsibilities included managing the company’s ICT infrastructure, data processes, security and applications. During this time he managed the transformation of Meridian’s technology platform.
