  • Key IS projects this year:

Launch of a new TV channel via traditional broadcast and online simulcast, online product enhancements, infrastructure and telephony consolidation.
OnDemand online registrations continue to grow, with the one million registered viewer milestone reached in February 2016.

THE LAST 12 months for Marie Boyle, GM technology at TVNZ, have seen the culmination of a programme of work across content production, media asset management, digital storage and a complete replacement of the online platforms and products.

Boyle says the business technology projects the ICT the team worked on delivered a range of benefits: Improved toolsets, greater functionality, process automation across the business, streamlined online publishing and simplified the technology landscape.

In upcoming months, she says the team’s major projects are around the launch of a new TV channel via traditional broadcast and online simulcast, ongoing enhancements to online products, and infrastructure and telephony consolidation.

TVNZ says OnDemand online registrations continue to grow, with the one million registered viewer milestone reached in February 2016. ONE News Now’s streams likewise increased three-fold when compared to the same period in FY15.

TVNZ also launched Kiwi Premium Advertising Exchange(KPEX) with Fairfax Media, MediaWorks and NZME.

KPEX provides a platform to allow advertisers to buy online ads across the four companies.

Boyle leads a team of 80 permanent staff, but they contract services as needed across the year.

Boyle stepped up to her current role in August last year from GM technology strategy and planning and before that programme manager at TVNZ, New Zealand’s national television broadcaster and digital media company.
