This year Goodman Fielder posted its strongest first-half profit results since 2007.

According to CIO Robert Hilditch, Goodman Fielder has embarked on a major business and IT transformational project to roll out SAP across the Baking New Zealand and Australia divisions and the Dairy and Meats division in New Zealand. The project will run for three years and will impact most of the Goodman Fielder business.

The company is headquartered in Sydney, employing more than 7000 people in Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific Islands. Its products are manufactured in almost 60 plants in Australia, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, Fiji and New Caledonia, as well as a joint-venture manufacturing capability in China.

Benefits of the SAP consolidation will include the delivery of one fully integrated solution for Goodman Fielder, removing multiple disparate systems, improving internal controls, improving inventory management, enhancing manufacturing processes and systems and fully integrating supply-chain solutions.

The final solution will have best in class processes and systems, and will ensure the underlying cost base is appropriate to the business as a whole — Goodman Fielder’s Commercial Division, Home Ingredients, Baking, Dairy and Meats and Asia Pacific operations.

Investments last year in VoIP, business intelligence and mobility solutions were successful. This has allowed the ICT team to continue with ongoing work in ERP development, wireless connectivity and e-business solutions, along with enhancement of disaster recovery and business continuity for 2010.
