CIO says switch from Vodafone will provide more flexibilty

Gen-i and Crane Group have signed a five year contract worth over $20 million to extend its existing voice and data services relationship.

The contract will bring together all of Crane Group’s telecommunication services. The company has a large presence through its building and industrial companies trading under the Mico, Mastertrade, Cory’s, Euipsafety and Mico Metals brand names.

Crane Group’s CIO, James Madigan says moving its mobile business from Vodafone to Gen-i on the XT mobile network will provide more flexibility, efficiencies and the benefits associated with a whole of business contract.

“It was important for us to partner with a leading local ICT provider for our technology and telecommunications needs, and Gen-i has proven itself to us by providing us with our core data and fixed voice telco services over the last eight years.”

He adds that in Australia, the company uses the same 3G platform as it does locally.
“This future proofs our business and further aligns our overall telecommunications strategy.”

The agreement includes the supply of data, internet services, voice, mobile (voice and data) and the provision of 500 mobile devices. Crane Group also uses Gen-i’s One Office across A/NZ to provide local employees with access to its main ERP applications in Australia.

Gen-i will begin switching the mobile phones from Vodafone to the XT network at the end of May. All 500 phones will be transferred to the network by the end of June.

The agreement follows a number of other business wins for Gen-i across A/NZ, including mobile upgrades and win-backs.
