Gen-i wins ANZ National Bank telecommunications deal

Four-year telecommunications infrastructure agreement will replace frame relay technology.

ANZ National Bank and Telecom’s IT services business Gen-i, have signed a four-year agreement that extends their existing contract to include a core telecommunications infrastructure upgrade.
ANZ National CEO Graham Hodges says the new infrastructure will provide financial benefits to ANZ National as well as delivering greater agility, flexibility and competitive advantages.
The upgrade will include a new IP-enabled telecommunications infrastructure that will replace ATM and frame relay technologies with Multi Protocol Label Switching (MPLS) and IPtel services.
The new agreement covers ANZ’s core data centre, national, corporate and branch data and infrastructure services, IPtel and ATM money machine services, as well as extending other existing telecommunications services.
Telecom chief executive Paul Reynolds says the deal reinforces Telecom New Zealand's position as a leading ICT provider within the Australasian market.
“It also demonstrates significant commitment and trust by ANZ National Bank, especially in an extremely competitive market place,” he says.
Gen-i general manager Rhoda Holmes says the ANZ agreement is the latest of a series of significant wins for Gen-i.
