Security technology company McAfee’s aggressive approach in its acquisition of firms and PC partners seems to have paid off. The company, which provides products to secure PCs, networks, mobile phones and websites from threats, was added to the S&P 500 Index at the end of last year. It remains on an acquisition binge in a bid to provide the industry’s most comprehensive security software-as-a-service portfolio. In September it acquired MX Logic, a provider of cloud-based email and web security, email archiving and email continuity services.
In June it completed the acquisition of Solidcore Systems, claiming it now offers the industry’s first end-to-end compliance system. This includes dynamic whitelisting and application trust technology, anti-virus, anti-
spyware, host intrusion prevention, policy auditing and firewall technologies.
