Following the trend of its global customer base, the largest telecommunications company in the US is expanding into the Asia-Pacific region to extend its global network reach and capacity.

“AT&T’s investment programme is being driven by the continued demand for application solutions, made possible by the proliferation of high-speed communication networks and mobile devices worldwide,” says Bernard Yee, VP, Asia-Pacific.

The company is driving the capability of wireless and wireline access networks via its high-speed packet access 3G network and its IP-based U-verse network. Yee claims it has launched the industry’s only turnkey private
content distribution solution that simplifies the ability of an enterprise to deliver rich media assets behind the corporate firewall, along with a unified communications portfolio that includes a suite of global collaboration
services, from standalone to fully converged audio, web and video-conferencing.

AT&T is providing the data communications services to the New Zealand Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the tourism campaign leading up to the 2011 Rugby world Cup.
