Earlier this year at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, a group of companies including Toshiba and NCR unveiled a new service to dispense digital content.
It involves using self-service kiosks to download movies and music onto flash memory cards.
The terminals will be built by NCR. Users will be able to download close to 4000 titles from top studios, including Warner Brothers and Paramount Digital Entertainment, from the kiosks; as well as four million music tracks.
This year has also seen NCR introduce new offerings within the financial sector, one of the company’s core focuses. Faster ATM transactions and targeted messaging are powered by its APTRA eMarketing software.
For easier travelling, NCR introduced its self-service TouchPort kiosks.
These are equipped with an integrated barcode imager for secure customer identification and an integrated passport reader to cater to international travellers.
