Samsung is the world’s largest manufacturer of consumer electronics and a leading producer of memory chips. This year it made a deal with Yahoo! to put together a network of internet content, containing applications and video.

Select models in Samsung’s 2009 flat-panel high-definition televisions provide a TV widget service, Internet@TV content service, which enables users to engage in experiences that previously could only be enjoyed on a PC.

Mobile handsets continue to be top sellers as the firm innovates for specific markets with products like Corby, a full-touch handset. It has a range of social network supports such as Facebook, Twitter and MySpace for younger consumers.

It also developed the first long-term evolution modem, the Kalmia, which supports download speeds of up to 100Mbps and upload speeds of 50Mbps within the 20MHz frequency bandwidth. Users of a mobile device with the LTE chipset can download a high-definition movie file (800MB) in one minute at speeds of 100Mbps, while simultaneously streaming four high-definition movies with no buffering.
