With its Steelhead appliances and Steelhead Mobile, Riverbed claims to multiply the throughput and application performance of IT infrastructure by up to 100 times. Gartner has identified the company’s WAN optimisation
controller devices as market leaders. Riverbed recently partnered with Check Point Software Technologies to offer a comprehensive set of centrally managed security protections. It also partnered with Websense to help users consolidate WAN and web security deployments, and it has extended relationships with Microsoft.

The business has won awards for best practices in emerging company support, E-Lab qualifications from storage giant EMC and was named best WAN accelerator for the fifth consecutive year by InfoWorld.

Local chief Dixon says Riverbed recently released products for datacentres and has been certified by key partners NetApp and EMC. A recent product, Cascade, allows better reporting to improve security capabilities. Version 6 of Steelhead is imminent and Dixon says Riverbed is planning further improvements across its products.
