The continued implementation of SAP into the regional cooperative’s retail stores will provide a more integrated business. The use of business intelligence to exploit the business data will be a focus of this overall project. Foodstuffs SI supplies the nine Pak’nSave, 39 New World, 78 Four Square retail supermarkets in the South Island, and more than 147 On the Spot convenience stores, and 23 Liquorland retail stores. Under the Foodstuffs South Island umbrella also falls 18 Henry’s Beer Wines & Spirits full service liquor stores, and subsidiary foodservice brand Trents Wholesale. “IT will be working very closely with our supply chain people on the various initiatives that will be incorporated into the building of the new distribution centre,” says general manager — IT, Phil Wright. Additionally, the company will continue to increase eCommerce capabilities to improve efficiency. The continued adoption of GS1net will improve the quality of product data in the supply chain. The new distribution centre, located in Hornby, Christchurch, is slated for completion in 2013, and is a top project involving IT resource over the coming year. The IT involvement includes expansion of the wi-fi network, CCTV, increasing resilience of systems within the datacentre, as well as functionality enhancements to the warehouse management system. Various IT infrastructure refreshes are also scheduled for 2012.
