Downer’s IT group has gone through significant transformation over the past six months, resulting in the integration of the New Zealand IT team within the broader Downer Group IT organisation, headquartered in Sydney under the Group CIO, Joseph Amoia.
Former general manager IT for NZ, David Pearce, relinquished his role on 31 December, 2011. Robyn Gillespie was appointed to the role of IT client services manager in 2012 and is now the most senior IT executive within Downer New Zealand.
Downer New Zealand has outsourced its IT management to Gen-i. Gen-i has held the contract for a number of years, providing mobile, voice, data and ICT services including the service desk.
An infrastructure programme of work is currently in place to update the Downer New Zealand environment. In addition, Downer is developing a group application strategy, due for implementation in FY13.
Key ICT projects for the 2012 calendar year include a rollout of Windows 7 and Office 2010 as the standard operating environment, a migration from MS Server 2003 to 2008R2, a migration from MS Exchange 2003 to 2010, WAN consolidation, and SQL 2000, 2003 and 2005 consolidation and migration.
