The Saint Kentigern Trust Board, responsible for one of New Zealand’s leading private school organisations, manages Saint Kentigern College, Saint Kentigern School for Boys, Saint Kentigern School for Girls and Saint Kentigern Preschool. The size of the board operations continues to grow with education now offered to boys and girls aged three to 18. The Board’s ICT team has completed an extensive project contracted to Lexel Systems and Emerson Network Power for a new datacentre fit out. The build, a 100 percent turnkey package, was completed in early January this year. Emerson has used its entire kit bag for the purpose-built datacentre located in the new ICT customer service centre at the college campus. The package includes Liebert CRV in-row cooling, Liebert NXe 30 UPS, Knurr Miracel racks, Emerson serial metered PDUs, and Liebert RDU temperature, humidity and remote alarms.
Other key ICT projects underway include a new organisation-wide web presence and online learning environment, wireless upgrades at two campuses, adoption of Toshiba all-in-one computers in lower primary classes, Microsoft Exchange consolidation and various business improvement initiatives. An integrated Ricoh network solution is now deployed across all Saint Kentigern schools to satisfy the printing, copying and scanning needs of students and staff.
“ICT is a key educational tool for teachers and students,” says director of ICT, Walter Chieng. “It is an enabler in teaching and learning right across the board and services our customer engagement and business administration requirements.”
