The ACC will continue work on a large business and infrastructure change programme, which includes investments in virtualisation technologies and rationalising and consolidating software and hardware. Specifically, significant projects that are underway or planned for the coming year, include a virtual desktop deployment, across more than 4000 PCs, server virtualisation, enhancement of the insurance customer and the claims management systems, completing a business intelligence implementation, wider roll-out of eChannel capability, datacentre consolidation, claims management and financial systems upgrades.
ICT is used within ACC to help ensure the business is both financially sustainable and represents value for money. To achieve these goals ACC has a number of strategic activities that sit within four programmes of delivery (Pods), each with their own driving objectives and outcomes. Information technology acts as a key enabler for the delivery of these strategic and operational objectives through initiatives such as the development of an online portal for customers and agents/advisors integrated with core premium systems. New functionality will also be extended to claims management and providers/vendors in future phases, says general manager, enterprise planning and information technology, Richard Doig. Additionally, his team will use the existing claims management system to establish a service for claim risk rating that is integrated with the claims management processes.
