Westpac has chosen Gen-i to design, deliver and support its new datacentre. The Auckland-based datacentre is scheduled to go live early next year.
The new contract extends the bank’s current relationship with Gen-i, providing ICT services across the Westpac’s corporate offices, branches and ATMs to include housing its IT infrastructure in a Gen-i datacentre.
Gen-i says the datacentre will be located in its Tier III carrier-grade facility in Auckland, which interconnects with Telecom’s main telecommunications exchange on the same site.
The datacentre will have highly seismic-rated buildings, a highly resilient infrastructure design, environmental monitoring and efficiencies, and physical security, with 24x7x365 management processes.
Jim Stabback, Westpac’s GM for customer and technology services, says the move will ensure the bank’s IT is securely hosted in the most resilient facility with levels of network scale, interconnection and energy efficiencies.
