All too many business analytic projects fail before they get off the ground.
This book, The Value of Business Analytics: Identifying the Path to Profitability shows managers how to get their projects started, as well as how to present the results following the completion of the project.
The author, Evan Stubbs, is regional product manager for analytics at SAS Australia and New Zealand.
The book points out a common challenge facing managers tasked with helping their organisation make better decisions, is not whether their business analytics projects will succeed or fail — it is if it will get off the ground in the first place. In addition, many teams struggle to communicate the value they have delivered once the project is completed.
It also provides an integrated framework for communicating the value of business analytics, focusing on a four-stage methodology to help with: (1) communicating the value proposition, (2) building the business case, (3) creating the execution plan, and (4) measuring the value. Targeted toward senior management, this book details what business analytics is and the value it brings to an organisation. There is also a section on how to plan for the execution of a successful business analytics program.
