The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade is advertising for a CIO, which is a new role at the ministry.
MFat plans to merge two divisions, ICT and Knowledge Services under the CIO. At the same time, it is rolling out a major transformation project, known as Orange 11.
“The Orange 11 project is about delivering a more flexible IT environment for our staff in New Zealand and around the world,” MFat says in a statement. “It will make it easier to collaborate and share information as well as facilitating improved use of mobile computing.
“We expect to roll out Orange 11 across our network by the end of this year.”
Computerworld understands Orange 11 is Citrix-enabled and involves SharePoint.
Long-serving ICT director Alan Sainsbury is understood to be leaving that role in July but returning on a part-time basis to oversee the roll-out of Orange 11.
