Key IS projects this year: Payroll system replacement; international mail system replacement; financial systems upgrade; CRM systems replacement; CGI system deployment; digital post network.
As part of a major restructure and internal merger at NZ Post, a new executive role, Group General Manager of Innovation and Technology, has been established as the reporting line for technology teams. This role will challenge and evolve the organisation’s traditional services to ensure they remain relevant and deliver to the requirements of the future business model.
“The slowing economy, combined with the declining volumes of traditional mail, provides stimulus for change in some traditional areas and increasing the alignment across our teams to provide a structure for NZ Post to deliver its current services most efficiently, while being able to align the group towards developing new services,” says Group GM innovation and technology, Paul Reid.
As customer preferences change with technological advancements, New Zealand Post is committed to a future that meets our customers’ mailing needs both physically and digitally,” he says.
According to a 2010 study by The Research Agency, 77 percent of consumers said they would likely use a digital post network if it were available. Further, the average consumer using the service estimated they would opt out of receiving 59 percent of their current paper mail, while 42 percent estimated they would go paperless on more than 80 percent of their mail. The survey also found that the strong consumer interest was matched by businesses, with 77 percent saying they would likely use a service to deliver mail digitally. The results of this survey will affect future ICT digital initiatives for NZ Post.
