Key IS projects this year: New gaming system; provide ICT infrastructure and systems to support new developments in its Auckland property.

2010 was the “year of the customer” for SkyCity Entertainment Group, says CIO Mike Clarke, with multiple ICT initiatives focused on them. Central to several initiatives has been the introduction of multi-lingual self-service kiosks, allowing customers to directly interact with the Loyalty programme. The user experience has been significantly improved through the introduction of a new system into the Auckland casino’s customer car parks.

The technology enhancements are broadly based. To deliver the excitement of a casino to the hundreds of thousands of annual visitors, whose numbers will increase heading into the Rugby World Cup, there has been significant focus on IP-based audio visual technology. These improvements have covered sound delivery, interactive digital signage and HD TV.

In 2011, there are two broad themes for IT energies. The first is to implement a new gaming system, which will bring SkyCity up to global casino best-practice. This system will include new technologies to improve the entertainment and customer interaction, and will provide additional assets in business intelligence and CRM.

The second broad theme is to provide the ICT infrastructure and systems to support the exciting new developments that the company has underway across its Auckland property.

“We are currently adding two new floors to the SkyCity Hotel to provide world class facilities for our international players,” says Clarke. “We have also announced three new outlets to open on Federal Street in partnership with industry icons Al Brown, Luke Dallow and Sean Connolly. With these outlets and the new Gaming System, these are exciting times for SkyCity.”
