Key IS projects this year: BI; CRM; supply chain improvements; disaster recovery.

A successful SAP project for one Carter Holt Harvey (CHH) group has resulted in a simplification of the ERP platform, by migrating from Movex, TIMMS and Timbersmart to SAP ECC6. The completion of this project has resulted in better customer service, reduced costs and far better information on business performance for the building products company.

Growth is anticipated in the next two years, as some of the company’s divestments are realised. The CHH IT team’s focus remains on retaining and increasing market share through improving customer service and reducing operating costs throughout the business.

“The two CHH group businesses are continuing to operate in a challenging economic environment and the focus remains on market share, price and operating costs,” says New Zealand and Australian CIO Jonathan Iles. “IT budgets are flat compared with 2010, but capital is still available for projects with clear business cases, especially around productivity initiatives, efficiencies and customer facing processes.”

Business intelligence, CRM and supply chain improvements will continue to receive attention, as they did last year. The roll out of Business Objects via SharePoint has been successful for the organisation and CHH will build on this platform during 2011.

A significant disaster recovery project is due for completion in 2011, which will also provide additional capacity for non-production environments. Finally, it continues to be active in the M&A space, with divestments already in place this year, requiring transitional services from the CHH shared services’ IT team.
