AVG appoints new GM

Sam Hendry appointed AVG's new general manager

Sam Hendry has been appointed general manager for AVG AU/NZ. According to the company, Hendry will be tasked with establishing AVG has the leading security solution in Australia, New Zealand and the South Pacific. "AVG (AU/NZ) is at a very interesting juncture in its growth and it is exciting to be joining a company that is visionary in both the products it markets and business models it follows. The potential and growth opportunities for this business are extraordinary. I am also very pleased to join a team that is passionate about the work it does and which is so well-respected in the market," says Hendry.

AVG has doubled its staff in the past 18 months to nearly fifty, according to managing director Peter Cameron. "Sam joins us to head up all our operational divisions which allows me to spend more time working on the strategic aspects of our product, channel, partner and client offerings. We have grown our business by being innovative and our focus on enhancing the professionalism of our management allows us to keep pushing the boundaries. I'm simply delighted to have Sam on board. In just a few weeks, we have already seen a huge benefit," he adds.

Hendry has a Bachelor of Business from RMIT University and a Graduate Certificate in Management from Deakin University. He moved into the ICT sector in 2000 when he joined Melbourne IT before being promoted to start its spinoff entity, Digital Brand Services. Prior to joining AVG, he was also general manager sales & marketing for QK.
