In January 2010, William McCracken replaced the retiring John Swainson as CEO of CA. That piece of news was soon followed by CA’s acquisition of an enterprise and service-level management software provider Oblicore. The buy strengthened CA’s offerings across the enterprise and cloud. Much of the year’s activity on the acquisition front for CA has been focused on building the company’s portfolio of offerings in the virtualisation and cloud computing space.

CA was placed 482 in Fortune magazine’s 2010 top 500 companies, and four on Fortune’s Computer Software list. Executives at the company say that they are doing well in the public sector, information and communication service provider space, and financial services industry in Asia-Pacific.
