Acer remains a PC powerhouse as one of the world’s top three vendors, with an expansion strategy into new business lines such as smartphones and tablets. Acer showed off a prototype tablet device, which runs on a Google Android system and an e-reader earlier this year. As well, at a show in Taipei, the company unveiled a netbook that uses Android as a quick-booting operating system and Windows as the main operating system. As well, it has also unveiled an Aspire Ethos laptops that incorporate a secondary touchscreen doubling as a touchpad.
