IBM continued to make strategic acquisitions this year in the key areas of software and business analytics. The acquisition of Coremetrics will expand its business analytics capabilities by enabling organisations to use cloud computing services to develop faster, more targeted marketing campaigns. IBMs acquisition of Cast Iron Systems and Sterling Commerce will also broaden the delivery of cloud computing services for clients. Cloud computing and next-generation datacentres continue as investment areas. It has allocated more than US$1 billion towards the Global Green Datacentre Initiative, and has chosen the Highbrook Business Centre in Auckland as the site of its latest IBM Reliability Level 3+ datacentre.
