A restructuring at the world’s largest manufacturer of consumer electronics last year saw Gee-Sung Choi take over as the new Samsung CEO. Choi, who replaced Yoon-Woo Lee, was previously the head of Samsung’s Digital Media and Communications Business.

Samsung is focusing efforts on growing its own mobile phone app store, with expectations that the number of mobile applications available in the store will more than double by the end of this year.

There are about 4000 apps available now, compared with more than 250,000 apps on Apple’s AppStore and more than 80,000 Google Android apps. Ulrika Hedquist
