Business intelligence and data analytics look set to continue on an upward trend. Market analyst IDC forecasts 7.2 percent compound annual growth of business analytics worldwide for the next five years. SAS, which has enjoyed ongoing growth even through the recession, plans to continue investing in research and development to improve flexibility and user configurability. In 2009, the company reinvested 23 percent of its revenue in research and development.
