By positioning its business for future grow through network upgrading programmes, which have included the nation’s largest programme of local loop unbundling and deployment of new technologies for ultra-fast broadband and data transmission across its own networks, TelstraClear made solid progress in the last 12 months.
The rollout of Docsis3 technology on its cable networks in Wellington, Kapiti and Christchurch will enable broadband speeds of up to 100 megabits per second as part of new market offerings.
IP network functionality has been extended into new areas, while upgrading work on TelstraClear’s backbone network has strengthened its data capacity.
Additionally, the company continues to invest in a three-year plan to ensure its network, products and services are ready for a smooth transition to IPv6, in anticipation of it becoming the global address standard for connecting to the internet.
The company aims to maintain focus on the development of its trans-Tasman services alongside Telstra, and to partner with regional utility providers to provide services to businesses and residences.
