In order to address the explosion of content, Hitachi announced two offerings to help customers move into cloud computing at their own pace. Hitachi Cloud Service for Private File Tiering will enable enterprise customers to move legacy files into a cloud storage environment and pay only for what they consume, when they consume it.

The second is a public online cloud storage solution, in partnership with Digi-Data, which provides service providers with a public cloud offering to consumers and small and medium-sized businesses.

In September, the company also introduced the Hitachi Virtual Storage Platform, the industry’s first three-dimensional scaling platform, enabling organisations to scale up in virtualised datacentres. Stuart Finlayson
