Siebel Systems, founded in 1993, became the dominant CRM vendor in the late 1990s and had about 45 percent market share in 2002. Oracle bought Siebel Systems for $5.8 billion in 2005 and Siebel is now a brand name under Oracle’s umbrella. Siebel is actively working to form partnerships with other companies. Indian IT services firm Wipro this year entered into a strategic partnership with Oracle to offer a warranty management and analytics solution for industrial manufacturing, and the automotive and high-tech industries. By combining Wipro’s industry expertise with Oracle’s Siebel CRM, the companies aim to simplify the warranty management process for original equipment manufacturers and their suppliers.
