EMC New Zealand has secured a multi-million dollar extension of its deal with the Defence Force, adding backup, recovery and archiving. The additional deal covers hardware, software and professional services. EMC says it will extend the Defence Force's existing storage capacity and enhance the backup environment by installing the EMC Networker management suite. EMC's Data Domain deduplication platform will be also be used.
In addition, EMC will supply its File Manager Archive appliances to automatically migrate file data from primary storage to the archive tier for long-term storage. It will offer two linked Data Domain D880s at the Defence Force sites in Auckland and Wellington, managed with the Networker software. EMC will work with local partner iData Resolutions to deliver the project.
The Defense Force identified the improvement of its data storage systems as one of the key factors to long term success.
“The New Zealand Defence Force and EMC have a long relationship which has expanded with this contract. We look forward to partnering with EMC in working towards the best possible outcome for the Defence Force,” said Peter Thomas, CIO of the New Zealand Defence Force.
