For Auckland’s Kristin School, 2010 has started as a busy year in terms of ICT development. The ICT team has grown, with the introduction of a software development team.
Investments will be made in several key technology areas over the course of 2010, including financial management information systems, portal, business intelligence, knowledge management, e-business, cloud computing and ongoing server and storage virtualisation.
Jason MacDonald, the school’s director of ICT services, tells CIO that, “Our slim and effective ICT governance model allows us to benefit from the use of an ICT investment management model. This practice allows a new model of ICTS integration with our business, whereby our business and ICTS work together, with well formed partnerships, to support our teaching and learning and other business objectives. In effect, using ICT to achieve our business objectives is a natural part of who we are and how we work.”
Several key IT projects will be undertaken this year, including continued portal development; an expanded business intelligence programme; implementation of next-generation enterprise architecture for an identity, content and application aware connectivity environment; and ongoing enablement of innovative teaching and learning use through the North Shore Education Access Loop (NEAL) and the Kiwi Advanced Research and Education Network (KAREN).
