Since creating the industry-standard “stateful inspection” technology that monitors packet movement in firewalls, Check Point has been a security industry pioneer.
It also transformed security management with its single console SmartCentre and unified gateways.
The company claims to be a leader in mobile device and data protection, by introducing the first and only single agent for end-point security. Its new Software Blade architecture is a first in allowing tailor-made security
protections and gateways for different environments and sites.
Despite the global slump, CEO Gil Shwed announced record quarterly results in July, with sales up 12 per cent on last year. Revenue growth was in all regions. Shwed credited growth on “synergies associated with the successful acquisition of Nokia’s security appliance business in April”.
Other new products helped, too — including the VSX-1 range of security appliances, the high-end Power-1 series and Smart-1 security management — plus product enhancements. Darren Greenwood
