Massey University has new CIO

Clive Martis of the University of Canterbury takes up role.

Clive Martis is the new chief information officer of Massey University, effective 19 October. He replaces Gerrit Bahlman, who is now director of IT at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University.

Martis is currently the director, information and communications technology services at the University of Canterbury, a position he has held since 2006. Before this, he was general manager of information technology services at the University of Adelaide.

Massey University has more than 35,000 students and 3000 staff. The university is number nine in the MIS100 2009 report on the largest ICT user organisations in New Zealand.

Dr John Griffiths, Massey University assistant vice chancellor (finance, IT, strategy, commercial) says Martis is a senior information technology professional with extensive experience. Griffiths notes Martis has strong links with Massey, having been a staff member between 1993 and 2004. Martis also has a BA and an MBA from Massey.
