As part of its social responsibility initiatives, Symantec is donating enterprise software to eligible groups including charities and voluntary organisations. Local groups can apply through TechSoup, a software donation programme. They are charged a small fee for the products.
Symantec Pacific vice president and managing director Craig Scroggie says that through the programme, the company will support communities in areas where its staff live.
“Charities, community groups and voluntary organisations are operating in the same complex environment as businesses. Ensuring confidential information is secure and accessible is just as important to a not-for-profit as a commercial corporation. This partnership frees up their already limited funds to activities that benefit their customers,” he says.
Symantec joined the TechSoup global programme in 2002.
