Optimation has drawn together a practice leadership team to specialise in a number of IT services. The group, lead by national professional services manager James Roberts, will offers services including .Net and Java software development, managed resourcing, service delivery management and project management.
Roberts says the practice leadership group will deliver benefits for customers and Optimation employees.
“Over the years, Optimation has been fortunate in building a pool of extremely well-qualified and talented individuals. This is about taking our brightest stars and empowering them to grow their discipline in the company,” he says.
“For customers, the value proposition is simple: they know they will always get the best people for the job, because we are embedding that culture of excellence throughout the company and putting in place the structures that are needed to ensure consistency and repeatability.”
Contractor Gary Patchell, formerly Telecom's group general manager of technology and shared services, has been advising Optimation and says it is encouraging to see the company investing in practice leadership.
“This requires a business to take a long-term view of developing its skills, people and capability, rather than just being focused on short-term revenue generation. You have to look in-depth at your talent pool and at the type of business you want to have in the future, and then be prepared to invest the money, time and resources into training, support structures and incentive schemes to achieve that vision,” he says.
