SkillSoft, a software as a service e-learning provider, has made available a Pandemic Flu Awareness course free of charge, in response to the growing worldwide pandemic concerns of the swine flu. SkillSoft will provide two other courses related to disaster preparedness for emergency planning to the public.
The company says the course is a result of the World Health Organisations (WHO) decision to raise the alert over swine flu level to five.
The one-hour online course provides information and guidance on how a pandemic could occur and the measures that organisations and families can take to minimise the effects.
It also gives basic guidelines for a pandemic preparedness plan to help individuals ensure they are ready to respond effectively if necessary.
It includes information on the key differences between a pandemic flu and regular seasonal flu; key facts associated with pandemic flu; the kinds of pharmaceutical and non-pharmaceutical interventions that can be used to prevent or slow the spread of the flu; and tips for creating a personal pandemic preparedness plan.
“Over the last week, I have witnessed the growing concerns amongst employers and employees with the swine flu outbreak and they are information-hungry for knowledge on how to protect their staff and their business the best they can,” says Glenn Nott, SkillSoft vice president and managing director, Asia Pacific.
