Data management company Commvault has appointed Simon Probert to the position of sales manager based in Auckland.
Probert will be responsible for growing the vendor's established business in New Zealand for the company's Simpana suite of data protection products.
In a statement Probert says his prime objective is to bring the local business up to the high penetration rates the company has achieved in Australia and the rest of the world.
"With a new distributor here [VAD] and our new 24/7 follow-the-sun support, and the advantage our product has over the competition, I am sure we will quickly achieve our objective."
In a statement Commvault Oceania managing director Gerry Sillars says "Simon comes to us with an excellent history of channel and customer support in the storage and data management space. With our aggressive plans for growth in NZ his experience and skills will be greatly appreciated."
Probert has a 10-year history working in the IT industry in New Zealand.
With a strong technical background in storage, backup and data management, he has held senior management roles within the reseller, vendor and end user communities.
Probert joined VAD as a consultant to work on Commvault products when it was appointed as a distributor in September 2007. He has also worked for Simpson Grierson, Telecom and Air New Zealand.
