Key IS projects this year: Refresh ageing development environment;

introduce an automated process management toolset; continue to

implement information management best practice.

NEARLY HALF A million people live within the wider Wellington

region, making delivery on an approved Annual Plan and Wellington

Regional Strategy a key business objective for the Wellington

City Council.

David McLachlan, manager knowledge solutions for Wellington

City Council, says business challenges for the council include the

need to balance rates and revenue while achieving strategy plans.

He says information and IT systems are critical enabling mechanisms

for the council. Challenges for the team include creating tangible

links between information and technology delivery and the vision

and strategies of the council.

The council’s main focus in the coming year is the better engagement

of its citizens to jointly agree on service provision and the

quality of council’s services. Knowledge Solutions will be mainly

providing the business tools to enable this initiative.

Also in the coming 12 months, McLachlan says Knowledge

Solutions will focus on key projects to refresh their ageing development

environment; including introducing an automated process

management toolset, transforming older council applications to

the new environment and continuing to implement information

management best practice.
