STELLA TRAVEL SERVICES IS the largest, integrated travel network
in Australasia, operating under four main ‘umbrella’ brands. The Stella
Travel Services network encompasses retail travel agencies, wholesale
air consolidators, wholesale packages and emerging online retailers.
It is part of the Stella Group that also operates Stella Hospitality, an
organisation controlling a large resort and apartment portfolio including
Peppers, Mantra and Breakfree leisure offerings. Stella Travel Services
is concentrated in Australia and New Zealand and has strong entry
points into other key international markets.
The Group, formerly known as Gullivers Travel Group, has more than
1400 retail and corporate outlets comprising Harvey World Travel with
330 retail travel outlets in Australia, 120 in Southern Africa, 80 in the
UK and one in Egypt; Travelscene American Express with 520 retail
travel outlets and 80 corporate travel outlets; Gullivers Travel, with 270
retail travel outlets and three corporate travel outlets in New Zealand,
along with Transonic Travel (a wholesaler of air services and leisure
travel in Australia, New Zealand, Asia, North America and the UK) that
provides services to 720 unbranded agencies through the Concorde
International Agency Group.
Stella Travel Services New Zealand continues to focus on growth
through acquisition and continuing to build its franchise business.
Head offi ce is in Sydney with technology direction provided by Markus
Svensson in the role of Global CIO. Alongside Markus in the global IT
leadership team is Dhaya Sivakumar, who heads IT for New Zealand
and the Pacific.
Sivakumar says Stella’s IT and business-solutions vision is to enable
its business to become the partner of choice for customers and suppliers,
through delivering industry-leading systems and processes. Key
goals this year include closely aligning IT initiatives with business value
drivers and prioritising work programmes accordingly.
