Microsoft can't afford picking the wrong person as its next CEO, they say
CIOs overwhelmed by the prospect of building digital leadership while renovating core IT infrastructure and capability for the digital future, reports Gartner.
“Credit goes to IBM for being first out of the gate in 2014 and moving the yardstick from around 20 to 40 cloud data centre locations. It's now [up] to the usual competitors to respond and we will see their response in the next weeks,” said Holger Mueller, vice president and principal analyst at Constellation Research.
The strained, dysfunctional relationship between CIOs and marketers can be overcome, in part by rallying around the customer. After all, we're in an age that requires IT and business people to put aside their differences in order to bring business technologies to bear that will win, serve and retain customers.

The answer is a compliance and governance framework, says Matt Gerber, executive vice president of 2nd Watch: If IT can't provision cloud services at the speed the business demands, at least it can provide a list of sanctioned reference architectures that business units can choose from when selecting services. That way, even if you can't provision the services, you can at least ensure a certain level of reliability, availability and security in the cloud services the business units procure.
