Victoria University of Wellington (VUW) has implemented 1E’s NightWatchman product as part of its energy efficiency initiatives.
Working with Transend, 1E deployed NightWatchman across 3700 PCs, saving the university 619,000 kWh per year.
“NightWatchman is a key component of our wider University commitment to energy efficiency and environmental sustainability,” said Jenny Bentley, director of campus services, Victoria University of Wellington.
In a statement, Bentley noted that the off-the-shelf system met the university’s requirements for integration with the IT network, interface with users, reporting of performance and the delivery of energy savings.
After nine months, the power policies deployed through NightWatchman have helped the Information Technology Services (ITS) with power management across the university.
The university has 7006 PCs, according to the latest CIO100, where it ranks number 36 in the top ICT using organisations in New Zealand.
