Frucor signs with Dimension Data for digital transformation programme

The project ensures more nimble and agile service delivery, while also generating considerable cost savings, says Gavin Sharkey, Frucor Group digital strategy and planning manager.

The first stage in this multi-year journey has been to complete a review and consolidation of Frucor’s current IT infrastructure including its datacentre, network and SAP environment, and transition it to the cloud.

The project ensures more nimble and agile service delivery, while also generating considerable cost savings, says Gavin Sharkey, Frucor Group digital strategy and planning manager.

“We will have better access to our production and supplier information, enabling us to make better informed decisions, providing improved customer service, and ultimately optimising the way we work. The cost savings will be reinvested in the next phase of our digital transformation programme,” says Sharkey, in a statement.

Since starting out in the early 1960s as a small New Zealand juice business Frucor has gone on to become one of the largest drinks companies in Australasia.

It manufactures, markets and distributes a range of household-name beverages including ‘V’, Just Juice, Fresh-Up, McCoy, Simply Squeezed, H2Go, Pepsi, Mountain Dew, 7Up and Frank.

To assist Frucor, Dimension Data has created an agile datacentre foundation and is consolidating the number of datacentres down from seven to two.

“Dimension Data’s Managed Cloud Platform offers an excellent solution for Frucor that unifies the New Zealand and Australian businesses, and brings more resilience to the company,” says Sharkey.

Frucor sees technology as an integral part of its business growth strategy. “For us, it’s not just about incorporating more technology – it’s about becoming a digital business, thinking about things differently and changing the way we work,” says Sharkey.

“What we are doing with Dimension Data underpins our digital strategy and wider business plan.”

Dimension Data is putting the technology building blocks in place to form the foundation for Frucor’s ongoing digital transformation, says Marcel Rafter, Dimension Data next generation datacentre practice lead.

“Frucor recognises that in the fast-paced digital world, it will need to readdress its IT requirements on an ongoing basis to continue to grow and stay ahead.”
