Plan B Group has appointed Frazer Scott as CEO, as the technology provider enters a new phase of growth in New Zealand.
Effective 25 June, Reseller News can reveal that the industry expert joins the business at a time of expansion, driven by new services and ventures both locally and internationally.
“With a strong focus on partnering with our customers and supporting them through the significant changes in the ICT landscape, we were looking to appoint someone with global experience and a local understanding,” said Ian Forrester, executive director of Plan B Group, when speaking to Reseller News. “We believe that we have found that in Frazer.”
“Frazer brings a very customer focused skill set and dynamic energy to the business at a time of real growth and expansion,” Forrester added. “The board look forward to working with Frazer and the team to deliver our next phase of growth.”
With more than 18 years of senior leadership experience - spanning sales, marketing and C-suite roles - Scott joins Plan B following 15 years at Microsoft.
Since starting out as a sales leader covering Xbox and consumer products, Scott was appointed COO of the entertainment and devices division across Australia and New Zealand in 2006.
After four years in the role, Scott assumed the combined responsibility of chief marketing and operations officer in New Zealand, a position he held from October 2010 until last year.

As executive director, Forrester will work closely with Scott to lead Plan B through this next period of growth, with a focus on “strategic growth opportunities” through new services, partnerships, joint ventures and acquisitions.
Furthermore, Scott will be supported by the Plan B Group board of directors, consisting of Forrester, Jose Matosantos, Michael Stiassny and Don Grover.
“I’ve been in the role for over 11 years and we’ve enjoyed phenomenal growth,” Forrester added. “And now is the time to unleash the next chapter of Plan B.
“We’ve got enough critical mass to start to grow the business into some very exciting new areas, alongside continuing our current growth plans.
“We’re currently exploring a range of opportunities not just in New Zealand but also globally, and with the addition of Frazer, we are in a better position to capitalise.”
With expertise in the provision of business continuity services, Plan B offers hosted infrastructure and networking solutions to more than 2,000 organisations, with key customers including Ingram Micro, Rabobank and Hallensteins, alongside Rakon, Debtworks and NZ Funds.
“The benefit for our customers is simple, in that we have acquired exceptional industry experience in Frazer,” Forrester said. “Frazer was instrumental in launching the Microsoft Azure platform in New Zealand and he has great insight into the public cloud market.

“Alongside our significant infrastructure and networking businesses, we can combine our capabilities to become the ultimate hybrid cloud provider in New Zealand.”
The appointment of Scott comes less than six weeks after Plan B acquired Solarix, in a move designed to strengthen capabilities across managed wide-area network (WAN) and networking solutions in New Zealand.
As revealed by Reseller News, the business closed the deal on 1 May, bringing on-board 30 staff members in the process.
