Key IS projects this year: Virtualisation.
“ICT,” says Andrew Cooke, VP — IT and Supply Chain for Fisher & Paykel Appliances, will continue “as an integral part in support of a range of business activities”. The economy will have little to no effect on ICT budgets, projects or staff numbers in 2011, with all three expected to remain flat.”
Virtualisation will receive continued focus and investment. This will predominantly be driven on a case by case basis in support of business improvement and initiative projects.
An ERP project has been successfully completed, resulting in a vendor-supported platform. This now includes middleware support for newer web-based technologies. “With the new version we have opened up future, real-time integration options that were previously limited to batch mode processing,” explains Cooke.
The leading manufacturer utilises AT&T managed services for its WAN and ISP needs, while it relies on a combination of Telecom and Vodafone for its voice services. JD Edwards Enterprise One is used for both FMIS and ERP. PCs — Dell, Toshiba and HP — are in place across the ANZ business, with Macs also in use in the
company’s offices here.
