Key IS projects this year: Health Identity Programme (formerly Recipient Provider Index); Connected Health; Regional Information Platforms; Significant internal investments in website replatforming, Payment system upgrades for GST change, Business Objects transition to XI and desktop upgrades.
The Information Delivery and Operations (IDO) Group is headed by David Miller, the director, Information Delivery and Operations. It provides four key services to the National Health Board and the Ministry of Health, within the Health and Disability sector. They are: health information collections; national systems development and management; internal systems; and health payment systems for the sector. The IDO Group works alongside the Information Strategy Group, led by Graeme Osborne.
The two groups work together in support of ICT planning and enablement, with the IDO Group solely responsible for ICT operational and delivery functions.
Though ICT operational budgets, staff and projects numbers are slightly down this year, there are a number of key projects planned for delivery in 2011. These include completion of the Health Identity Programme (formerly the Recipient Provider Index); support of the Connected Health programme; and enhancement of regional information platforms. Additionally, significant internal investments are planned that will enable website re-platforming, payment systems upgrades in response to last year’s GST change, a Business Objects transition to XI, and desktop upgrades.
Other general work and investment will continue is such areas as FMIS, unified communications, VoIP, virtualisation, knowledge management, wireless, disaster recovery, e-business, cloud computing and mobility
