Datacom NZ posts 7.3 percent revenue gain

Datacom has grown its year on year revenue and profit in ANZ and Asia for the year ended 31 March, with a 9.5 increase in operating revenue for the group and a 13.8 percent increase in net profit after tax. The increases brought revenue to $667 million and profit to $30.2 million. The local business posted revenue of $295 million, a jump of 7.3 percent on last year, while Australia/Asia grew 11.4 percent to $372 million.
The New Zealand business’ net profit before tax was up two percent year on year.
Locally, the company described its year as solid, saying it experienced notable growth in its software development and application management businesses.
The Datacom Group has also raised staffing levels, with New Zealand employing an extra 160 staff during the reported period and Australia/Asia adding 148. Goup staff numbers now total 3,383, up 10 percent on last year.
Alongside its financial results, the company has announced the promotion of former Australia/Asia CEO Michael Browne to Group CEO. He had been in his previous role since 1999. He joined Datacom in Wellington in 1992 and headed the group’s Malaysian business in 1997.
Browne will work closely with New Zealand CEO Greg Davidson, Datacom says.
